Caspian Airways Tupolev Passenger Jet Crashes in Iran, Killing 168

Yemenia Air Airbus 310 Disappears over Indian Ocean

Paris--6/30/2009 After flying from Paris to Yemen’s capital Sanaa, Yemenia Air Flight 626 disappeared between Sanaa and Moroni. Though reported as being missing, apparently coastal villagers saw the plane go down in rough seas about six minutes from its intended landing site. A ship was able to locate the missing airbus, which carried 147 passengers and 11 crew members... Moroni is located on Comoros, an island chain between Tanzania and Madagascar.

Paris--6/01/2009 The Airbus A330-200 aircraft, registration F-GZCP, left Rio on 31 May at 7:03pm local time (12:03am in Paris). The aircraft hit a zone of stormy weather with strong turbulence at 4am Paris time. An automatic message was received from the aircraft at 4:14am Paris time indicating a failure in the electric circuit and a loss of pressure, while the plane was over the Atlantic.

Brazilian, African, Spanish and French air traffic control centres unsuccessfully tried to make contact with flight AF 447. The French military air traffic control centre could not detect the aircraft. 216 passengers were on board: 126 men, 82 women, 7 children and one infant; and 12 flight crew members: 3 pilots and 9 flight attendants.
